Al-Falah FC (Purley Masjid) at the London Masjid Cup
Match report:
There is something odd about statistical tables. The strangest thing, at least in my mind, is that, if you flip them around, whomever was at the top will end up at the bottom, and those at the bottom are suddenly riding high, the world beneath is feet π€·ββ.
The Al-Falah Lions took to the pitches of Merky FC with such notions in mind. If we ended up at either end of the table, top or bottom, we knew all we had to do was turn the representation of statistical information around, and we'd be fineπ.
Now, you may be thinking: 'Not much football being mentioned in a football report, but, whoever said that was important, huh?
(We won our final group match Vs Balham & Tooting - if you are really interested π)
Congratulations to Al-Hidaya/ICT for winning the inaugural South London Masjid Cup. As for Al-Falah, we certainly turned up looking the best. Our kits were the envy of all that came and our players not far behind.
As they say, there is always next year, it's the turning up that counts, etc. What we know for sure is that when we turn up next year, we will look the best and play the...
Al-Falah FC (Purley Masjid) vs. Shirley Muslim Association
Match report:
There was sweat, there were tears,
But our supporters were out there, (and so were the pirs).
With shots galore and targets hit,
We returned home victorious, in our splendid (borrowed) kit.
Game two for Purley Masjid (Al-Falah FC) in the South London Muslim League, and with the challenging first game well and truly behind us (and no trauma remaining), the second came with rewards beyond measure.
It started off with a few quick goals by our fabulous forward pack, five goals reeled off in quick succession.
Then came the opposition onslaught, but the defence held on strong (the dodgy keeper even saved a penalty).
Final score was 9-4 & victory to Al-Falah.
Al-Falah FC (Purley Masjid) vs. MCWAS (Sutton)
Match report:
On Saturday 10th January, upon the cold pitches of South Croydon, this local Darby took place.
After months of hype and anticipation, goading and taunting, the masjids' finest took to the arena - it was time to see who really ruled the countryside of South London (or are we at Purley really in Sutton π€·ββ- someone ask the imam).
Spectators filled the sidelines, shouts of encouragement at the teams, (and advice) coz you know, these 'back-seat' managers that they all are, teas in their hands as they watched two lions battle it out.
Now... let's be honest, scores don't really matter do they...π€¦ββοΈ its the taking part that counts, right? π
And so we quickly move on to the next match vs. Shirley Muslim Centre coming towards the end of the month.
We look forward to representing Purley Masjid once again in this great initiative of bringing together all the masajid in the local area.
We are one body, one ummah and we have one mission
